What is included in the cost of the trip?
Full board accommodation (3 meals a day), full training and support, travel within India and a fantastic range of excursions and cultural experiences.
Do I have to speak the local language?
No, English is widely spoken in Goa!
What is the application process?
Once you’ve got in touch with us and you’re sure you want to volunteer with Volunteering Goa, you will need to send a CV and a short letter about yourself to info@volunteering-goa.com.
Do you have an age limit?
Applicants must be at least 18 years old when they join us in Goa. There is no upper age limit but please discuss any medical concerns with us before applying. Applicants over 50 should be aware that certain providers will not offer you insurance. Please visit comparethemarket.com and read any policy carefully before buying it.
Can I volunteer with my partner, friends or family?
We welcome groups and we will be happy to discuss group discounts if you are prepared to share accommodation. Please message us at info@volunteering-goa.com if you want to chat to us about it.
What is the accommodation and food like?
Accommodation is clean and comfortable with fans and western style bathrooms. Rooms are either individual or single sex dorms. Don't worry, if you come with a partner or as a group, we'll make suitable arrangements for your accommodation. Once allocated, rooms cannot be changed.
All meals are provided by Volunteering Goa and are delicious, healthy, local cuisine. We generally don't provide dinner on Sunday evening as volunteers often like to try local restaurants and Goa's wonderful street food. For any particular dietary requirements please contact us at info@volunteering-goa.com.
I can't volunteer but I would like to donate money to India. Can I do this through Volunteering Goa?
If you want to donate money directly to one of the charities we work with, please visit www.blcgoa.org to find out more.
If you would like to contribute towards the expenses of future volunteers who might not be able to meet the financial needs themselves, please visit the Goa Anglican Centre to find out how you can help with the bursary scheme.
Where does my money go?
The vast majority of the fees collected from the volunteers is used to provide for the needs of the volunteers themselves. This includes accommodation, meals, local travel and tours. Each volunteer fee also includes a significant donation that is given entirely to the charity in which that volunteer is placed.
Do I need any particular skills or qualifications to volunteer?
There are no particular requirements for volunteers but any high level skills you may have will be a great asset when volunteering. Please discuss this with us by emailing info@volunteering-goa.com.
Can I take time off from my placement to travel around India?
The volunteering placement is continuous in order to provide stability for the people in need of our care. All volunteers are given 2 days a week off to explore Goa and neighbouring areas. We also encourage volunteers to extend their stay in India beyond the placement so that they can travel around this amazing country! Although any travel that you decide to do after your placement will be entirely your own responsibility, we are always on hand to give advice and support if you need it. Volunteering Goa Ltd recommends Bookings.com for reasonably priced, good accommodation options around India. You can visit them directly here:
